Sterile Compounding Center

Roncelli completed the renovation of an existing healthcare facility to create a new Sterile Compounding Center for Henry Ford Health System. The project transformed underutilized storage space into a highly specialized pharmacy compounding environment, including sterile production areas, quality control laboratories, changing rooms, and associated support spaces. The work was completed within an occupied healthcare facility, requiring careful coordination to maintain uninterrupted operations and protect adjacent patient care functions.

The project included extensive architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC upgrades to support the specialized requirements of sterile pharmaceutical production. Roncelli coordinated the installation of owner-furnished Grifols clean room equipment and integrated a new walk-in refrigerator/freezer system provided through a separate owner contract. Structural modifications and utility improvements were completed to accommodate new equipment, while renovations included new partitions, doors, finishes, lighting, power distribution, and environmental control systems throughout the facility.

A key feature of the project was the installation of a large Grifols sterile compounding clean room within the existing building footprint. The team successfully navigated complex ceiling coordination, equipment delivery challenges, and the installation of new rooftop support steel and air handling units above occupied pharmacy spaces. Through proactive coordination with trade partners, suppliers, and facility stakeholders, Roncelli maintained schedule commitments while delivering a highly regulated healthcare environment that supports Henry Ford Health System's pharmacy operations.
