DPW Municipal Garage

Roncelli was awarded the contract for the New Department of Public Works Municipal Garage for the City of Grosse Pointe Park. The project includes construction manager services for new a building complex for a mechanic's service shop and office area with a precast storage mezzanine. The new 17,500 sf facility is located on Mack Avenue.

The building is a PEMB with CMU and siding on the rear and sides of the building. Brick and stone veneer are on the front.  Glass overhead doors along with many lower and upper windows along Mack ave allow for plenty of natural light to enter the service shop.  

The office area contains locker rooms for employees to change, 2 private offices for the supervisors, and a break room with kitchenette for all the employees to gather. Above the office area is a precast plank mezzanine for storage of spare auto parts and the water department's pipe repair materials.

The 3/4 acre site proved to be very tight to coordinate all of the trades.  A storm water detention system was installed beneath the storage yard to slow the release of storm water into the city's overburdened storm system.  New storm lines were run down the alley behind the building to the next block.  The yard has a concrete storage area with a fuel station for the city's trucks and police vehicles.  It has a CMU screenwall to reduce the noise to the neighborhood.  An fenced asphalt parking area for the employee vehicles completes the yard with a operator controlled gate to Mack ave and a manual gate on the alley.
