Corewell Health Taylor Hospital Celebrates Emergency Department Expansion

November 5, 2026

Corewell Health Taylor Hospital recently celebrated the completion of its renovated and expanded Emergency Department with a ribbon cutting in Taylor, Michigan.

The event marked an important milestone for the hospital and the surrounding community, recognizing the completion of approximately 10,650 square feet of improvements designed to enhance the patient experience and support emergency care services.

Completed by Roncelli, the project included a 4,500-square-foot addition and renovations to approximately 6,150 square feet of existing hospital space, all while the Emergency Department remained operational throughout construction.

The expansion introduced a redesigned entrance with a new vestibule, security and registration desks, waiting area, triage rooms, visitor restrooms and additional storage space. Exterior improvements included a new entrance canopy, reconfigured patient drop-off area, accessible parking, updated sidewalks and landscaping to improve the arrival experience for patients and visitors.

Inside the hospital, renovations brought updated exam and patient treatment rooms, nursing stations, patient restrooms and clinical support areas. The work also included upgrades to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, nurse call and security systems to support the department's daily operations.

Together, these improvements provide Corewell Health Taylor Hospital with updated spaces and infrastructure designed to better serve patients, visitors and healthcare professionals.

Delivering Improvements While Patient Care Continued

Completing an expansion and renovation within an active Emergency Department required careful planning, coordination and a strong focus on maintaining hospital operations.

Construction was completed in phases, with temporary separations and infection-control measures protecting surrounding occupied areas. Close collaboration between Roncelli, Corewell Health and project partners helped maintain emergency access and minimize disruptions as work progressed.

One of the most significant achievements throughout the project was the continued improvement in the hospital's patient experience scores. Despite ongoing construction, those scores continued to rise, ultimately reaching an all-time high.

This achievement reflects the importance of maintaining a positive patient experience while delivering improvements within an active healthcare environment.

The ribbon cutting celebrated more than the completion of a construction project. It marked an investment in the hospital's ability to serve the Taylor community through updated emergency care spaces and improved patient amenities.

For Roncelli, the project represents the collaboration and attention to detail required to deliver complex healthcare improvements while maintaining the essential services patients rely on every day.

With the renovation and expansion complete, Corewell Health Taylor Hospital enters its next chapter with an updated Emergency Department designed to support its healthcare teams and the patients and families they serve for years to come.
